May’s Colour of the Month – 5GC Deep Cinnamon Chestnut

May 10 2023 by: Jo M

This month we’re going to take a closer look at one of our newest shades – the 5GC Deep Cinnamon Chestnut, part of our ‘Deep’ collection of Permanent Hair Colour Gels. Only launched in February this year, these 4 intense, rich and radiant new shades are already proving hugely popular on our website!

What kind of colour is it?

Historically, our mid-brown shades have always been our most popular, which is why we extended the offering by adding the 4 new ‘Deep’ shades. As a ‘5’ the 5GC Deep Cinnamon Chestnut is a true mid-brown and is half way along our colour scale. The ‘GC’ means that there is a blend of both gold and copper tones added, so it could be considered a richer, deeper version of the 5G. As with any hair colour however, the final colour result will always depend on the colour of the hair to which it is applied (the thickness and overall condition too), so a colour strand test before use will demonstrate the exact shade of brown you’ll get.

Can anybody wear this colour?

Pretty much! Like most mid-brown tones, the colour is pretty universally flattering and thanks to the added warmth of the gold and copper tones, it can help soften skin tones that may have lost a little of their natural complexion over the years. It equally works well with olive skin tones too! Just bear in mind your base shade – if you are naturally darker than our 3N Dark Chestnut Brown, the 5GC won’t be able to lighten your hair enough. Anything lighter is fine but bear in mind if you are darkening your hair, creep and go – it’s much easier to go darker in stages than it is to try and correct a colour that has gone too dark on the first attempt!

How do I style it?

However you like, but with those copper and gold tones, big bouncy curls that catch the light will look amazing – something to consider on your next night out maybe! Green eye makeup pops beautifully against the tones of colours like the Deep Cinnamon Chestnut or you can complement the shade with bronze, brown and nude colours.

How do I care for it?

With a colour like Deep Cinnamon Chestnut, you want to try and keep the colour looking as vibrant and rich as the day you applied it, so consider treating your hair to an intensive treatment like the Quinoa Multi-Care Mask once a week, depending on how often you wash the hair.

The Colour & Shine Mask is formulated with 99% naturally derived ingredients and enriched with Quinoa, a complete protein containing all essential amino acids, that intensifies and prolongs hair colour, whilst also boosting shine. Alongside Quinoa, Milk Thistle is used as a natural silicone substitute to leave hair silky, shiny and more manageable, whilst Shea Butter helps hair retain vital moisture and reduce breakage.

Regular trims will also help maintain vibrancy and a glossy colour, as they help to reduce the occurrence of split ends.
